Ulm Helmholtz Opens with Focus on Battery Research

Description Development of efficient battery systems for future energy supply and mobility is the objective of the newly opened Ulm Helmholtz Institute for Electrochemical Energy Storage in Germany. The Ulm Helmholtz Institute is founded and organized by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in cooperation with Ulm University. Other partners include: German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Wuerttemberg. High-performance and low-cost battery systems “are the prerequisite for the future economic efficiency of electromobility and the integration of renewable energies,” said KIT President Professor Eberhard Umbach at the opening ceremony.
