PublicationsLatest ResearchThe National Science Foundation and Rice University will investigate how nanoparticles travel throughout the food chain to help ensure food health and safety. The project will be led by Dr. Pedro Alvarez, chair of Rice’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and Vicki Colvin, Director of Rice’s Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology. Kattesh Katti, professor of radiology and physics and senior research scientist at the MU Research Reactor, was honored on Tuesday, March 4, with the Outstanding Missourian Award for his work in treating cancer. Katti recently discovered how to make gold nanoparticles using gold salts, soybeans and water – research that has garnered worldwide attention and could have applications in several disciplines. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued its first set of nanoscale reference materials for labs studying impact of nanoparticles for biomedical research.
